Between Storytelling on the Streetcar, KC Daquari's Creole Brunch Carryout and a 'celebration of kings' at the Gem Theater, Kansas City has big plans to honor Black history during February's final weekend.

Friday, Feb. 26

11 a.m. – 4 p.m. If you don't know who PJ Masks is, you probably aren't a preschooler or parent. For those familiar with the kid superhero and his crew, be sure to grab tickets for PJ Masks at Sea Life Kansas City, 2475 Grand Blvd. There will be PJ Masks sea-themed activities, pop-up games, character meet and greet chances and more. Child tickets are available for $17.95. Adult tickets start at $21.95.

7 p.m. KC Streetcar is hosting a one-of-kind virtual event Friday evening in celebration of Black culture in Kansas City. StreamStorytelling on the Streetcar free on YouTube and Facebook Live for stories surrounding KC's Black culture featuring local artists like Nublvckcity, Kadesh Flow, Kemet Coleman, Sheri Hall, poet t.l. Sanders, the UMKC Conservatory Dancers, Justice Horn, Mayor Quinton Lucas and more.

7 – 9 p.m. Browne's Irish Marketplace has plans for a virtual Irish Whiskey Tasting and Dinner. Those interested should sign up and then pick up the meal and whiskey kit at Browne's, consisting of eight Irish whiskeys, shepherd's pie, a roll and dessert. Guests will receive an email with the link to the virtual tasting led by a native of Donegal, Ireland. The experience is $49.

Saturday, Feb. 27

9 a.m. – 5 p.m. If it's time to get a hobby, consider a woodworking lesson from Maker Village, 606 E. 31st St. Saturday's Intro to Joinery class will teach beginner to intermediate woodworkers how to make a pet bowl stand by hand. Heads up, the project requires physically demanding use of tools, which are provided. Make sure to bring your pet bowls. And close-toed shoes.

City Barrel's Week of Rad continues this weekend at the Crossroads brewery and kitchen, 1740 Holmes St. The second anniversary celebration features new beer releases each day, a private beer dinner, a virtual tasting option, ‘80s music all week long and more. Expect socially distanced seating and to-go options as well.

Noon – 4 p.m. Better late than never, lovely gifts await at this weekend's Valentine's Day Pop Up Market by Kansas City Design Collective, 210 W. 19th Terr. The rescheduled event will feature items from local artists and makers available in a casual shopping experience in the Crossroads.

8:30 p.m. Want practical advice from people who have been over the edge and lived to laugh about it? That's the plan for Saturday night's Nerve Tonic Livestream by Barrel of the Bottoms. The two-part show will feature comedy, storytelling and life coaching from professional funny people offering their best advice on your own life. Tickets are $10.

Sunday, Feb. 28

11 a.m. – 3 p.m. KC Daiquiri Shop, 1116 Grand Blvd.,and KC Brown Girl are coming together this weekend to celebrate Black History Month with the Creole Carryout Brunch Series. The menu, curated by six Kansas City chefs, will pay tribute to the culinary heritage of Black chefs. The build-your-own brunch special is $25 for one, $45 for two or $65 for four. Pre-order the carryout brunch online to receive $5 off.

5 p.m. If you haven't had the chance to stream a Kansas City Symphony concert since the group went virtual, Sunday's show should lift spirits. The KC Symphony's Classical Series will focus on the music of Mozart and Elgar, specifically Mozart's bright Divertimento in D Major. The concert is only available via streaming. Be sure to subscribe to KC Symphony online at www.mysymphonyseat.org.

5 – 6 p.m. Or, perhaps some jazz? The American Jazz Museum is going live from the Gem Theater Sunday evening for The Men of Jazz, Soul & Blues. The tribute show will feature a 'celebration of kings' with the music of Ray Charles, Nat King Cole and James Brown performed by six local artists, in addition to live poetry and painting. The concert event is free.
